MEH clinches three awards at this year’s Hinkley Point C Excellence Awards

Hundreds of Hinkley Point C team members have gathered this month at Weston-Super-Mare for the seventh annual HPC Excellence Awards. The event celebrates the incredible people, teams, and achievements across the project over the past year. This year, MEH Alliance scooped up not one, but three awards during the ceremony.

Among the stars of the evening were our welding apprentices, Rebecca Digby, and Joshua Hadley-Harding, both of whom won Gold for the ‘Apprentice of the Year’ award. Our Quality team secured Silver in the ‘Excellence in Quality’ category.

Rebecca said: “I’m absolutely gobsmacked and grateful to everyone who nominated me. This is an amazing project and I enjoy being a welder. I now go into local schools and colleges to tell students about it – I want to let them know that being an apprentice is great.”

Joshua said: “I’m very proud of myself and was very surprised to be nominated for this category. It has been a long journey since obtaining my certifications and now being able to weld on this amazing project. I feel immensely proud whenever I get good feedback from the welding inspectors.”

Russell Bain, Site Quality Director said he was proud of his team: “Our achievement this year has set a new benchmark for the industry and the project. This is a massive 1895-metre welding job, and this award demonstrates the ongoing quality of our work. This is a team effort, and without the inspectors, welders, and our manufacturer, we wouldn’t have been able to achieve what we’re aiming for.”

A big round of applause to all winners and congratulations to all the nominees for their outstanding contributions.
