MEH establish second Logistics Centre

It’s a big year for the MEH Alliance; three MEH Logistics Centres known as the MLCs have been established to support MEH fit-out at Hinkley Point C. By the end of 2025, 70% of all MEH materials for Unit 1 and 2 will have been accepted into the MLC’s.

MLC1 has been online since last year, and since December 2024, the facility has accepted 35km of pipe and over 4,000 supports, which equates to 140 tonnes of supports alone. The newly established valve workshop and store in MLC1 will hold approximately 36,000 valves from 12 separate contracts throughout project duration.

MLC2 will be coming online soon and the facility will be solely dedicated to housing Balance of Nuclear Island and Balance of Plant pipe spools. Once complete, it will hold around 35 to 40,000 individual spools with future a capacity to reach a cumulative total of in excess of 50,000 pipe spools. MEH Alliance aim to deliver 40,000m of spools to Hinkley Point C in 2025.

Our third logistics centre, based in Weston-Super-Mare is focused on electrical commodities such as containment, trays, supports, cabinets, and lights and will be operational by summer of this year. The building is approximately 30,000sqm and hosts a pre-existing temperature storage, allowing more sensitive pieces of equipment to be stored safely. This new facility will double stock capacity and will allow MEH to double the amount of materials delivered to site.
