MEH takes home six awards at this year’s Hinkley Point C Excellence Awards

Hundreds of Hinkley Point C team members gathered at the Winter Gardens in Weston-Super-Mare for the eighth annual Excellence Awards on Wednesday 27 November. These awards celebrate the incredible people, teams and achievements across the Project over the past year, and this year there were 13 award categories across two themes: ‘Project Delivery’ and ‘People and Behaviors’. The MEH Alliance proudly clinched six awards, surpassing last year’s three-award win, marking our best year yet.

Guillaume Saoutieff, MEH Head of E2E Engineering, won Gold in the ‘Outstanding Leader’ category for his dedication to upholding the Project’s values and inspiring staff to deliver beyond what is expected. Evie Holdsworth, our 3rd year Surveying Apprentice, came away with a Gold award in the ‘Rising Star’ category for her inspiring achievements and significant contribution to the team, followed closely by Jordan Kokolin, Welding Apprentice, who picked up Silver in the same category.

The Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing Qualification Team won Bronze for ‘Best Innovation, Learning, or Efficiency’ with a pioneering solution that significantly reduces radiography exposures by around 600,000, enabling cost and schedule benefits without requiring an exclusion zone.

The Core Catcher Team also took home a Bronze award for ‘Best Collaborative Team’ and were recognised for their installation of approximately 16,000 refractory bricks within the confined space of the reactor cavity. Finally, the Bronze award for ‘Championing Respect’ went to Jamie Duffy, Temporary Works Coordinator.

Rob Jordan, Project Construction Director, and co-sponsor said: “These awards are an amazing celebration of performance and excellence. We have the honour of recognising those who have shone this year, and those who have delivered with passion.”

A big congratulations to all the winners, and commendations to all nominees for their outstanding contributions.
